SNEZ E-NEWS - Back on top of things

Hey Folks

It's been a long time between posts. Where has the year gone?
Lady Ellie is growing. She's balancing and standing and will be walking by the time her 1st birthday comes around. What an amazing and epic journey it's been so far. Motherhood is HARD! Yikes!

'House on Four Wheels' Tour 2016
Lots of new and exciting things happening for 2016. 'House on Four Wheels' has received some amazing feedback and I'm looking at taking the songs on the road in 2016 with tour preparations and plans underway for April to September next year.  With some house concert and venue dates already confirmed and I just got off the phone with the musical director of Mt Beauty Music Festival in Victoria and looks like I'm in woohoo!!! Next years tour will take me to the well trodden path of the north coast of NSW and QLD. I'm also heading over to ACT and VIC and then out west. I hope I survive next  year! I'm feeling tired even as I type these words: )

Other news:
Leura Markets, Nov 2015
Stewart and I have been working with the Community Access Centre here in Blackheath. Which is the recreational activities for people with disabilities. We started a 10 week recording project, rehearsing and working on some standard covers with some clients to create an album. We're at the tail end of the project with only 2 weeks until completion, but it has been so rewarding.

Bill, an 85 year old chap came into the project with such enthusiasm and quirkiness. We had him in the studio to lay down a piano part for Yellow submarine and Somewhere over the Rainbow. He then went on to play some old standard pieces off the top of his head, warts and all, Stewart recorded them. Upon listening back to them, Bill had tears coming from his eyes. I would love to know what was going on inside his head, what memory was triggered with that piece - 85 years is a lot of life, loss, happiness. Music is a healer.

Numbulwar School songwriting classes
Australian Songwriting Competition Finalist - 5 tracks have been selected from 'House on Four Wheels' as the finalist in the folk, ballad and open catergory of the Australian Songwriting Competition. Which is very exciting. What's even more exciting is, the children's songs we worked on with the kids from Numbulwar School in Arnhem land last year have also been shortlisted in the 'Youth' Category. This is a wonderful confidence boost for the kids and school in Numbulwar ; )  The Awards are held on the 4th December.

Creative Outlets:
I've been so flat out with baby stuff, rehearsing, performing, writing, that I have no time for any other creative outlet at this stage. However I caught up with a friend whose baby, Astrid, is a day older than Ellie, they were born in the same hospital and we went to the same hospital classes. We decided we were going to make felt dinosaurs for our kiddies. Lets just say they were cute, but mine was a touch dodgy as usual.
